Announcement by Tyler Arnold on March 15, 2026
Thank you very much to my clients, legal assistants, and others who have supported Arnold & Arnold, which is in its 116th year and will continue, but in a new way.
After nearly 12 years of handling an extraordinary workload, it is time for me to have a work-life balance. I interviewed applicants for an articling-student/lawyer position, but I determined that the effort and time required to train an applicant and the potential liability for the applicant’s work are not conducive to attaining a work-life balance.
After careful consideration and with a heavy heart, I have decided to permanently close the High River location of Arnold & Arnold at 4:30 p.m. on September 29, 2026, or the earlier resignation date of my last remaining legal assistant, which will be announced once known.
I am very grateful for the hard work and dedication of my legal assistants, Chelsea, Jaime, Winter, and Pam, and it has been a pleasure working with them. I wish them all the best as they pursue new opportunities.
After the High River location closes, I will continue as a lawyer and will provide legal services at a reduced volume from my home in Okotoks. I will continue to practice real estate, wills, enduring powers of attorney, personal directives, and estates, but will no longer practice corporate law.
Please see the categories below for what to do and expect before and after the High River location closes.
Corporations
I will complete annual returns and instructions from accountants and corporate clients that my office receives on or before March 31, 2026.
I will not complete annual returns and instructions from accountants and corporate clients that my office receives on or after April 1, 2026.
An Alberta corporation has a window of time after failing to file annual returns for two years before the corporate registry will dissolve the corporation. If your corporation is not near the end of the window of time, your new corporate lawyer will have plenty of time to file the outstanding annual returns for your corporation.
If you have any corporate retainer funds in trust at my office and if I have no corporate work to complete for you before closing your file, my office will return the funds to you.
If you have a minute book and/or a corporate seal at my office, please stop by to collect them if you are not waiting for me to complete work for your corporation. If you are waiting for me to complete annual returns and/or instructions that my office received on or before March 31, 2026, please wait to collect the minute book and/or corporate seal until I have completed the work.
My High River office will be open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. (excluding holidays) until it permanently closes.

- Any annual-return notices and instructions from your accountant and/or you that my office received on or after April 1, 2026
- Minute book
- Corporate seal
Please ensure your new corporate lawyer updates your corporation’s registered office, records address, and agent for service in the corporate registry well before the High River location closes.
Thank you very much to my corporate clients for your business and to the accountants for your referrals over the years. I wish you all the best in the future.
Enduring Powers of Attorney, Personal Directives, and Wills
Like many lawyers and as recommended by the Law Society of Alberta, I can no longer store original enduring powers of attorney, personal directives, and wills. Please contact my legal assistant, Chelsea, at 403-652-2242 Ext. 104, or chelsea@arnold-arnold.ca, to schedule a time to collect your original documents (Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. (excluding holidays)). My legal assistant will scan your original documents and store them digitally before releasing the originals to you.
If you do not have a safe at home, I recommend that you purchase an inexpensive, fireproof, and waterproof/water-resistant document bag/box to store your original documents at home, which are available for $30 or more at amazon.ca and elsewhere.
Before my High River location closes, I will be available to serve existing and new clients at the High River location depending on my file counts each month.
After my High River location closes, I will be available to serve existing and new clients at my home in Okotoks, but at a reduced volume that will depend on my file counts each month.
